If you haven't been to The Whale Museum lately, then you haven't been to The Whale Museum!
There's a lot of NEW to see, including:
Sooke (L-112) Exhibit: The new exhibit featuring Sooke (L-112). She was a 3-year old member of L Pod who tragically died in February 2012. The exhibit shares her story in an effort to help her family by engaging visitors in active stewardship.
Gray Whale Exhibit: Housed on the 2nd floor, this interactive exhibit tells more of the gray whales' story, from birthing lagoons to feeding grounds. It was created from re-purposed materials, including doors and a table!
Expanded Exhibit Hall: The first floor area has been reworked to expand the area designated for exhibits. The one level, even-floor increases accessiblity. The first floor includes an enlarged classroom space, an exhibit on gray whales and an exhibit on Sooke. The entry hallway houses the backpack cubby!
Newly Remodeled Gift Shop: The gift shop is brighter, warmer & more fun - and will include more stewardshp messaging. While the space is about 25% smaller, the custom cabinetry (built by local craftsmen!) allows for more unique display and better use of space. (Though they are not pictured here, even the bathrooms have been refreshed -- can you say automatic towel dispensers?)
And more NEW coming throughout the year, including:
